SCHOOL_STORE
✖
Like almost every other business here, characters pay for their goods with that handwaved allowance they receive every OOC month. The store closes in the early evening, not long after classes have ended for the day, and you can buy whatever's still available at the end of the day—which, as far as food goes, is leftover bread that didn't sell during the day. Yum.
✦ Bottled drinks (water and juice primarily)
✦ Bread (sweet bread, savory bread, most of it has Some kind of filling)
✦ Lunches (sandwiches, soups, bento meals, etc. it's all of superb quality! )
✦ Snacks (candies, chips, etc)
✦ Stationary (paper, pens, binders, highlighters, etc)
Limited Specialties
Occasionally there will be some... interesting things for sale in limited quantities, such as A SANDWICHES that INCREASE YOUR LUCK FOR EXAMS or AN ERASER that can be OFFERED TO YOUR CRUSH to INCREASE YOUR ODDS WITH THEM—among other oddities that play on similar themes. Naturally, none of this actually works (right? right???,) but who's to say it doesn't? Other times it's just a limited supply of especially good food being offered to just the first X students to buy it.
Players are more than welcome to take this kind of thing and use it for posts! Please, be my guest.
Please comment to this post with the following form for your milestone reward:
"But wait, how do I decide what my character gets as a reward?" See, rewards will correspond to the milestone's difficulty/emotional impact—but there isn't really any hard-and-fast rule either. There also isn't any categorization, since something could be important to one character, and completely pointless to another. The objective with these rewards is that they provide narrative satisfaction for your character's ongoing arc while, you know, making sense as a reward for that milestone.
The following are possible rewards to pick from:
✦ An exact recreation of a mundane possession from your world (no mechs, living things, or weapons)
Note: The school will not give characters anything that's Obviously Fucked Up and/or Turbo Traumatizing, like a glossy high-res photograph of their bestie's dissected corpse while being all "haha. :)" That's for the dream-games to hurt you with-

It's indestructible and full of big ol' capsules that contain—uh, who knows what they contain, you can't see what's inside any of them. Either way, it looks like this very big machine only accepts very big coins... surely it'll be relevant sooner than later. ♥
Standard Stock
Most everything sold is on/behind the counter—though mobile shelves of drinks and wrapped foods are wheeled out for purchase around lunch time (even in the winter!) The setup looks a lot like this, if you need a visual.✦ Bottled drinks (water and juice primarily)

Milestone Rewards
Upon completing a milestone, characters will receive a phone notification advising that they can stop by the school store during its open hours to pick up a reward—a reward OOCly determined by the player, equivalent to the value of the completed milestone. All rewards will be concealed in basic packaging fitting of its construction; a photo will be in an envelope, a fragile item will be carefully wrapped in tissue paper and packed into a box, and so forth. It must also be something that someone could, within reason, give over the counter—which is how the characters will receive it.Please comment to this post with the following form for your milestone reward:

The following are possible rewards to pick from:
✦ An exact recreation of a mundane possession from your world (no mechs, living things, or weapons)
The school can peer into your world and give you an exact recreation of anything you used to own—much like how they recreated your body! Most anything you used to have in your possession applies, like that book in your collection that you never got around to reading before you died. Outfits don't count, but only on the grounds that the school would rather give the local clothing store some more traffic, you know? But a single unique article that you wouldn't find in the wild is fine.
✦ A "souvenir" tangent to the completed milestone (no mechs, living things, or weapons)
To put it loosely, this can be something that was recreated from your old world (regardless if it was ever in your possession,) or something that fits the "theme" of the milestone. A replica of the necklace your mother wore as a reward for opening about her to someone, the recipe for that stew you once enjoyed as a reward for taking up cooking as a new hobby. Some of it can be less sentimental and more like a "companion piece," such as simply receiving a framed photograph of your mother, or a basic cookbook.
✦ A photograph taken of your past life
Ever want a picture of something straight out of your past life, to either keep for yourself or show your new otherworldly friends? Maybe you're starting a "past life" scrapbook, or maybe you just want a picture to sit on your dorm desk. People, places, events, moments—it can all be captured in a photograph.
✦ Something you "miss" or "want" (no mechs, living things, or weapons)
Unlike other packages, this one will be labeled with either something you miss OR something you want on the front—and it will, indeed, be something your character genuinely missed/wanted, even if they don't realize it. As with every other reward, this one can be as deep, simple, or silly as necessary to match up to the milestone's worth in question—it can overlap with other reward types, too. Would the photograph of your character's ex-best friend give them the shock of a lifetime? Maybe your character subconsciously wants to feel loved, so they receive a book on opening up to people. Or, they're more homesick than they thought, so they receive a little replica of their childhood home to sit on their desk. It's also possible they get a couple instant mac n' cheese boxes because it was a simple milestone, and also because that's what they're hankering for, so go figure.
✦ Send something back home to someone in your old world
While it may be impossible to send a living person back to their old world, it's not impossible to send inanimate objects back—within reason. So far they can only work with things as thin as currency and letters, but it's a start! If your character has someone they can send money back home to (maybe they still want to fund their sister's eye surgery!) or a letter they can send to anyone back home, they may be offered this opportunity to do so.
The money has all currency conversion taken into account, and can be a nebulous amount, based on the completed milestone in question. A significant amount for a big one, a not-insignificant amount for a lesser one. They'll even receive a receipt! Letter writers will be handed the necessary stationary and be expected to get it written up on the spot. Thankfully, there are those tables set around for you to work at, so long as none of your classmates disrupt you. If you want to add a photo, even if it's still on your phone, they can help with that.
✦ Improvements for your future after graduation

What are you doing after you graduate this school anyway? Going to college? Jumping into the job field? Haven't made up your mind? How about this: what if the school promised you scholarships, college recommendations, job arrangements, an apartment (again, after graduation,) loading up a savings account you'll gain access to once you graduate, among other future-bearing things as potential rewards for completing milestones? Granted, not one reward alone will cover an entire college ride, no matter how impactful your milestone was, but it could still be a sizable coverage—you could receive multiple scholarships over time anyway. Anyway, the physical thing characters receive at the school store will be a manila envelope containing an official document and photo/receipt evidence.
✦ An outfit voucher for use at the clothing store
Characters arrive to find only the bare minimum of essentials in their wardrobe, so they're stuck wearing their school-issued clothing until they get a hold of something else—which is where this reward comes in. This voucher can be exchanged for One Full Outfit of their choice at the local clothing store in town. Since it's just the voucher, you don't need to use it immediately. Save it for a brand new swimsuit in the summer if you're so inclined!
...and if there's anything else you'd like to see, or something else you'd like to workshop into a reward for your character, feel free to bring it up!Note: The school will not give characters anything that's Obviously Fucked Up and/or Turbo Traumatizing, like a glossy high-res photograph of their bestie's dissected corpse while being all "haha. :)" That's for the dream-games to hurt you with-
Giant Gacha Machine™
You might have noticed the giant gacha machine sitting right beside the school store.
